McKinley Meets With Vice President Pence

Washington, D.C.– As Chairman of the Coal Caucus, Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E. (WV-1) has been unrelenting in his fight to bring job opportunities back to West Virginia. Today he met with Vice President Mike Pence one-on-one to discuss how to protect miner healthcare benefits and pensions, increase coal exports, and stimulate job growth through regulatory relief. At the conclusion of the meeting Congressman McKinley invited Vice President Pence to visit the 1st Congressional District later this year.

“It was very encouraging to sit with Vice President Pence and talk about many of the challenges facing our state. We had a very thoughtful and productive conversation about my legislation to protect healthcare benefits and pensions for miners. They are workers who helped power America for generations and we cannot turn our backs on them,” McKinley said.

“The Vice President is a good friend and I look forward to working with the Trump administration to advance policies that will create new opportunities and improve the livelihoods of the people of West Virginia,” said McKinley.
