McKinley Celebrates Veteran's Day Around the District

On Friday and Saturday, I visited with brave men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our country. Our veterans have guarded the wall so our families and loved ones can have peace of mind. May we never forget the famous words of Ronald Reagan: "We remember those who were called upon to give all a person can give, and we remember those who were prepared to make that sacrifice if it were demanded of them in the line of duty, though it never was. Most of all, we remember the devotion and gallantry with which all of them ennobled their nation as they became champions of a noble cause."

McKinley: $83.7 Billion Investment in West Virginia is Good News

On Thursday, the West Virginia Department of Commerce announced the framework for a $83.7 billion power generation, chemical manufacturing and underground natural gas liquid storage investment in West Virginia by China Energy Investment Corporation Limited. West Virginia Secretary of Commerce H. Wood Thrasher joined President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing to announce the Memorandum of Understanding(MOU). I have been a strong advocate for getting this deal across the line, having previously met with representatives from China Energy in D.C., China and Morgantown, to encourage their investment in the state. Last year, I also participated in a MOU signing between Shenhua(the largest coal/energy company in China)and West Virginia University. The MOU developed a partnership to promote collaboration on technology innovation, education and training exchanges, and joint energy business development.

McKinley Speaks During Energy Subcommittee Hearing on Energy Star Regulations

On Wednesday, I questioned witnesses on President Obama's previous changes to the Energy Star Program during an Energy Subcommittee hearing. Energy Star is a voluntary program, implemented by the Department of Energy(DOE)and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), that provides consumers and businesses with information identifying the most energy efficient choices in appliances, homes, and buildings.

McKinley Attends Inauguration for New Glenville State College President

On Friday, I delivered remarks at the inauguration for Glenville State College's new president, Dr. Tracey Pellet. Dr. Pellet has an impressive academic background and has served in leadership roles at prestigious institutions across the nation. The work ethic, hunger for knowledge and determination he brings with him to this position is one that will benefit the college tremendously. Glenville has fostered a reputation for leading the way in academic achievement and I look forward to seeing them continue to flourish under Dr. Pellet's leadership.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
