Autonomous Vehicle Forum Brings Industry Leaders to Morgantown

On Wednesday, I partnered with West Virginia University to host an Autonomous Vehicle Forum in Morgantown. We assembled a group of experts from aiutomotive indsutry and academia to share what is being done to ensure this technology is efficient, safe, affordable and beneficial.

 

Self-driving cars have the ability to create new economic opportunities and help seniors and those with disabilities to live more independently. The House recently passed the SELF DRIVE Act to advance safety and reaffirm the roles of the Federal and State governments as this emerging technology continues to develop. I look forward to continuing this work alongside my colleagues.

Independence Hall Celebrates the Signing of the Constitution

On September 17th, Constitution Day marked the signed of the U.S. Constitution. Our Constitution is often taken for granted, but it has served as the roadmap for America’s government for over 230 years. I was honored to join more than 200 students who travelled from five counties to attend the annual Constitution Day ceremony at Independence Hall in Wheeling. It is important that we continue to educate young people on the important role the Constitution plays in our daily lives.

 

National Eagle Scout Association Provides Opportunity for West Virginia Youth

It was a pleasure to attend the Ohio River Valley Council’s National Eagle Scout Association picnic. The organization provides young men with an opportunity to develop leadership skills that they can use to better themselves and their community. This year, I was presented the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award. It was an honor to accept this award, and it is my hope that the Council and the values they instill continue to thrive in our state.

Career and Technical Education Program Drives Success and Vitality in Preston County

Preston County High School has been recognized for the success of their Career and Technical Education programs. This week, I spent some time meeting with students and faculty, discussing the strengths of their program and the opportunities their students have received as a direct result. Preston County serves as a model for the state of West Virginia and reiterates the important role that technical training can play in securing well-paying jobs for the next generation of West Virginians

U.S. Military Academy Day Scheduled for October 1st

Every year, I am impressed with the caliber of the young men and women who seek nomination to our military academies. West Virginia has consistently been represented well by the newest generation of leaders. I am proud to co-host an Academy Day alongside Senator Shelley Moore Capito for students interested in choosing this path.
