Promoting WV Coal in India

This week, I’ve been in India on a trade delegation to meet with senior officials of the Indian government. As the world’s largest democracy, India is a great friend to the United States. Our delegation has been discussing many ways to strengthen the alliance between our two countries and one of my priorities throughout this trip has been to advocate for West Virginia coal.

India has a voracious appetite for coal and will continue to use if for many years to come. If we can export more coal to countries like India, we’ll be able to create more opportunities and jobs at home. To read more about my trip, click here.

Before leaving for India, I had the chance to record a message for the West Virginia Coal Association’s annual Mining Symposium about the importance of increasing coal exports. To see my remarks, click here.

Reforming Healthcare

Healthcare costs are out of control. Because of Obamacare, premiums are rising and deductibles are through the roof. To put it simply, Obamacare has been a miserable failure and it needs to be repealed and replaced. Fortunately, House Republicans are committed to expanding access to affordable and quality care.

Any healthcare reforms must make sure the most vulnerable in America are protected. Last week, I was proud to co-sponsor the Pre-existing Conditions Protection Act of 2017. This is a very important bill that guarantees access to coverage by ensuring that everyone who applies for a plan is offered a plan and prohibits pre-existing condition exclusions, so that coverage is not limited to someone who is sick. WVU Update: Go Mountaineers!

Both the men and women’s basketball teams are looking to finish the season strong and advance into the tournament for March Madness. The women defeated TCU on Wednesday and hope to keep their momentum later today at Oklahoma State. The men defeated Texas at the beginning of the week and will play away this afternoon against TCU. Let’s go Mountaineers!

Have a great weekend!
