Strengthening our Manufacturing Industry

To recognize National Manufacturing Day, a time to honor and celebrate the importance of the industry and all of its workers, we visited Eagle Manufacturing Company in Wellsburg on Thursday. At the event, the National Association of Manufacturers(NAM)presented me with the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence

This is a key sector of our economy in West Virginia.  The products made at Eagle and other manufacturers in the Mountain State are of the highest quality and sought by people all over the globe. We must continue to promote policies that strengthen manufacturing so we can grow our economy and create jobs.

Listening to Our Veterans

America’s veterans have sacrificed for our freedoms and it’s extremely important that we address their concerns. On Thursday, we hosted a roundtable at the John L. Frazier VFW Post 996 in Westover.  We discussed a variety of issues including health care, the possibility of a veteran’s center at WVU, and how to make it easier for our soldiers to transition back into civilian life from the battlefield.

It’s always an honor to meet with the men and women who served our country in a military uniform. To watch news coverage and learn more about our roundtable, click here

Building the American Dream

On Friday, we had the opportunity to attend and speak to a meeting of the Home Builders Association of West Virginia(HBAWV)in Shepherdstown and while there, I was presented with a Defender of Housing Award. As someone who has been in construction for over 50 years, I understand the vital role that construction plays in housing and just how important it is to keeping our economy strong. If we are going create more jobs and allow more people to chase the American Dream, we need to make sure we reduce the burden of regulatory overreach and diversify our economy by investing in research to our energy, healthcare, and national security sectors.
