McKinley Fights for ‘Energy Tax Prevention Act’
during Energy and Commerce Committee Hearing

Washington, D.C. – Monday, the Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing to discuss H.R. 910, the ‘Energy Tax Prevention Act.’ This bipartisan legislation, of which Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E.(R-WV)is one of ten original co-sponsors, would prevent the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act. Rep. McKinley made the following statement Monday at an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing in support of passing H.R. 910 through the full Energy and Commerce Committee:

Thank you Mr. Chairman.

For the 30,000 steel workers who once worked in the Upper Ohio Valley.

Those belching, smoking, smoke stacks that were denigrated a few minutes ago, by some folks on the other side of the aisle, those smoke stacks represented jobs and security for their families.

We have the opportunity in this Congress to reverse those threats to the jobs posed by the EPA and to listen to the 100’s if not 1,000’s of scientific minds that disagree with the EPA.

Just last week, we had Professor Emeritus Dr. Donald Roberts testify just before this committee that the EPA’s green house gas regulations would be economically disastrous to the state of WV.

Mr. Chairman, enough is enough.

Let’s approves H.R. 910 and let’s begin to start restoring jobs all across America.
