Clarksburg VA Hospital Update
The situation in Clarksburg was sickening and never should have happened. The families of these veterans deserve justice; this is a step to achieve that.

Going forward we must continue to work with VA leaders to improve conditions at health facilities to ensure what happened here never happens again. Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, and they deserve the best possible care and should feel safe in our VA hospitals.

Don't Trade Domestic Energy
Over the past few months, people have become acutely aware of the problems with relying on foreign countries for vital products. The global pandemic has demonstrated that America depends on foreign suppliers far too much for products vital to our health, from masks to testing swabs to pharmaceuticals.

Yet, in another sector of our economy that is vital to our national security — energy — America is about to plunge blindly into a similar reliance on foreign sources. Haven’t we learned our lesson?

E&C Advances 30 Bipartisan Bills, including 5 of McKinley's
Passing these 30 bipartisan bills can help improve the lives of thousands of Americans who are struggling in the midst the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of the 30 pieces of legislation, I was a Republican lead on 5 of them.

Those bills focus on bipartisan work on a wide range of issues from hydropower to lowering the cost of drugs to addressing mental health issues. Even in the minority we are finding a way to be effective and get stuff done. I am proud of the work my colleagues put in on these bipartisan, commonsense bills, and look forward to supporting them on the House floor.

Focusing on Energy Security

In the aftermath of recent announcements our energy security is closely intertwined to our national security. The environmental left seems to disagree and are increasingly using lawsuits to delay pipeline construction. Using the courts to shut down and delay key infrastructure projects weakens both our economy and national security. I look forward to working with the Administration to streamline regulations and ensure we can use our own energy resources.

West Virginia Strong - The Comeback Plan
In May, Governor Jim Justice announced his plan for reopening the economy. Reopening will not happen suddenly, but with time. We should be able to open in a safe and cautious manner as long as we continue to follow the social distancing guidelines.

Phase one began on Thursday, April 30th. From there, each phase of the reopening process for Weeks 2-6 will begin on Monday of each subsequent week. COVID-19 case numbers will continue to be monitored throughout the entire reopening process.

The STAY-AT-HOME order was lifted on Sunday, May 3rd and a SAFER-AT-HOME was put in place on Monday, May 4th.

Last week, Governor Jim Justice announced starting on Tuesday, July 7, West Virginia will have an indoor face covering requirement in all public indoor places where social distancing cannot be maintained. Do your part to slow the spread and keep each other safe.
