| McKinley Meets with Elk Garden Mayor and Town Council |

This week was the 4th of July District work period. We had a great meeting with the Elk Garden Mayor and Town Council. There was a lot of good discussion on efforts to combat the opioid epidemic and the potential benefits from the Jennings Randolph Hydropower project.

During this week's District work period, we had a great round table with Elk Garden emergency services professionals where we discussed the struggle to recruit new volunteer firefighters, providing incentives to attract new volunteers, and the 41st anniversary of the firefighters' carnival, which raises critical funds to purchase new equipment.

We finished the District work week with a round table at Cortland Acres in Tucker County. We had a great discussion on how to help independently owned and operated nursing homes stay in business, Cortland Acres' efforts to address all of Tucker County's healthcare needs, the possibility of building a new substance abuse treatment center, and the need to expand broadband access to facilitate the use of telemedicine.

| June Jobs Report Shows Growing Economy |
Because of tax reform, employment growth was strong for a second straight month in June as the economy added 213,000 jobs.
