| President Trump Declares National Emergency |
Earlier today, President Trump declared a National Emergency to combat spreading of the Coronavirus. This allows for up to $50 billion to help fight the pandemic. I applaud the President for taking this decisive action to free up much needed resources, allow more access to testing, and for a more aggressive response to the virus.

| Coronavirus Funding Passed |
Last week, President Trump signed into law $8.3 billion in emergency funding towards treating and preventing the spread of COVID-19. The funding helps accelerates vaccine development, purchasing medical supplies and equipment, and assists state and local health departments. Providing funding during this critical time is crucial in helping states combat the virus and help stop the spread.

| CDC Recommendations |
Our office has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus and encourages everyone to follow the CDC recommendations on how to help protect yourself and others.
Take these steps to protect yourself:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, which the chorus to Country Roads lasts about that long.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% of alcohol.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in the community.
Take these steps to protect others:
- Stay home if you are except to receive medical care.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues and throw away the tissue.
- Clean and disinfect touched surface areas daily.

Earlier this week, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources established a toll-free hotline for questions from the public and medical providers concerning the Coronavirus. The department also has a website with the most up-to-date information regarding the confirmed and pending cases.
