McKinley, Schrader Lead Bipartisan Spur Innovation, Reduce Emissions

This week in an op-ed that ran in USA Today, Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) and I committed to addressing one of the greatest environmental and energy challenges of our time: climate change. We need a new approach to develop realistic solutions that will earn bipartisan support. Setting a steady course would be far better for our economy, environment and for the future.

Resolution to Protect Minor League Baseball
Along with, Rep. Lori Trahan (D-MA), Max Rose (D-NY), Mike Simpson (R-NY), I introduced a bipartisan resolution voicing opposition from Congress to Major League Baseball's proposal to eliminate 42 minor league teams. While we understand the MLB has concerns: the idea that doing away with affiliated baseball in 42 communities is the only solution is not reasonable.

McKinley Helps Secure $6M in Research Funding for Pancreatic Cancer
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) recently recognized our efforts to secure $6 million funding for new pancreatic cancer research program in the yearly appropriation bill passed by Congress. The new program represents a step forward for patients, providing additional pancreatic cancer research dollars and creating new treatment options and early detection strategies.

USMCA Promise Kept

This week, President Trump signed the US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement! Thanks to President Trump and U.S. Trade Rep. Lighthizer for working around the clock and delivering a better deal for American workers. We were happy to have supported the new trade agreement.

Fentanyl Ban Extended
Fentanyl is killing people in our communities every day. The Department of Justice banned offshoots of this deadly drug, but their authority to extend this ban was set to expire next week. Renewing this ban saves lives by deterring producers away from the deadly drug. This week the House was able to extend the ban for another 15 months.
