50 Years After the Plane Crash

“In the middle of Huntington, West Virginia there’s a river. Next to this river there is a steel mill. And next to the steel mill there is a school. In the middle of the school, there is a fountain. Each year on the exact same day, at the exact same hour, the water to this fountain is turned off. And in this moment once every year, through out the town, through out the school, time stands still.”

Tomorrow, we will pause to remember the 75 Marshall University teammates, coaches, staff, supporters and flight crew members on board flight 932 who lost their lives 50 years ago.

House Democrats Announce Plan to "Vote By Text"

Speaker Pelosi's new "vote by text" scheme dangerously centralizes her power and undermines our legislative body.

The American people deserve full representation, not Members of Congress voting by text.

Protecting Access to Low Cost Drugs
Recent actions taken by big pharma and middlemen to move 340B to a rebate model could jeopardize the ability of hospitals to provide critical services to underserved communities.

Today, I sent a bipartisan letter with 217 Members of Congress asking U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Azar to intervene and stop drug companies from turning 340B into a rebate program.

Cracking Down on Pill Mills

West Virginia is all too familiar with the opioid epidemic. In the past, millions of prescription pills flooded into our communities and ripped families apart by the horrors of addiction.

That's why U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor and I introduced bipartisan legislation to ensure the DEA can identify and prevent companies from dumping mass amounts of pills into vulnerable communities, which will help keep American families safe.

West Virginia Strong - The Comeback Plan
Over twenty-six thousand COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in West Virginia as of today. The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources established a toll-free hotline for questions from the public and medical providers concerning the pandemic. The department also has a website with the most up-to-date information regarding the confirmed and pending cases.

In May, Governor Jim Justice announced his plan for reopening the economy. Reopening will not happen suddenly, but with time. We should be able to open in a safe and cautious manner as long as we continue to follow the social distancing guidelines.

The STAY-AT-HOME order was lifted on Sunday, May 3rd and a SAFER-AT-HOME was put in place on Monday, May 4th.
