Fairmont's Urban Renewal Authority is proposing a team effort with Main Street Fairmont to bring more business into the region.

The plan is to contract Main Street for an economic development profile, not just of the city, but for all of Marion, Harrison, and Monongalia counties. The profile could show the entire population that a business coming into the area could target, what their spending habits are, and where the best position for them would be. This marketing packet will be used to try and create more catalyzing projects in Fairmont's downtown that can spark further change and redevelop the city's center.

"You can take that and say, this is our approach and this is where you need to be in Fairmont, in Marion County, and this is where the opportunities lie for you to locate here," said Fairmont City Planner and URA adviser Kathy Wyrosdick.
