Rep. McKinley to Tour Three Farms on Tuesday, May 13th
Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-WV) announced today he would visit the following three farms on Tuesday to view their operations and discuss the importance of agriculture in the Mountain State:
• 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. “Flying W” Farm Tour 2939 Northwestern Turnpike U.S. Route 50, Burlington, WV 26710 Rick and Margaret Woodworth are the proud owners of this fifth generation family-owned farm that consists of a herd of 200 Angus brood cows and local pork, brown eggs, seasonal sweet corn and a wide variety of vegetables and fruits.
• 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. “Eight is Enough” Farm Tour 305 Eight is Enough Lane Oil Fields, WV 26845 The owners of this poultry farm, Tony and Lois Alt, successfully filed a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency after the EPA required them to apply for a Clean Water Act permit in order to continue operations. The judge ruled in the Alt’s favor.
• 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. “Cottage Hill” Farm Tour 20 Cottage Hill Road Petersburg, WV 26847 Sonny and Carol Taylor own this diversified farm operation that features beef and poultry.
