Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) will join President Donald J. Trump this evening at the Boy Scout National Jamboree in Glen Jean, WV. President Trump will speak to over 40,000 Boy Scouts and volunteers who are anticipated to be in attendance.

“It is an honor to welcome Donald Trump back to West Virginia for the first time as president, and join him at the National Jamboree,” said McKinley. “Anytime a president visits our state it is a fantastic opportunity to highlight all that West Virginia has to offer.”

“As an Eagle Scout, I still carry many lessons learned during my time in Scouting with me to this day,” said McKinley. “The Boy Scouts of America is an outstanding organization that instils leadership, honor, and service in its members. I’m grateful President Trump is continuing the tradition of supporting Scouting by speaking at the jamboree.”

“The Boy Scouts located the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia in part because of our state’s natural beauty and the many outdoor activities in which visitors can partake,” said McKinley. “I’m excited to have the President see this world class facility firsthand.”

Background on Boy Scout National Jamboree

The Boy Scout of America is hosting its National Jamboree in West Virginia at the Summit Bechtel Reserve for the second time. In 2013, the Summit hosted its inaugural jamboree.

Over 40,000 Boy Scouts from all over the country and 1,400 military personnel will be in attendance.

President Donald Trump will be the 8th President to speak at the Jamboree. This will be the first time a President has spoken at the event in person since President George W. Bush did so in 2005.
