McKinley Praises Research Funding for West Virginia University

Washington, D.C. - Congressman David McKinley, P.E. (WV-01) issued the following statement regarding West Virginia University’s announcement that it would receive $203 million in research funding in 2021.
“In less than 10 years, West Virginia University has grown its research funding by an impressive 80 percent.”
“WVU has risen to the challenge, solidifying its status as a competitive, world-class center for health and energy research. I will continue to advocate and support WVU’s growing research initiatives. The benefits of enhancing research programs at WVU are immeasurable and will aid in diversifying and strengthening West Virginia’s overall economy.”
“President Gordon Gee deserves great praise for his vision and leadership that has established the University an economic driver in the state and in particular, his attention to enhancing research opportunity-rich sectors like health care, defense and energy.”
