Washington, DC – Today, Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) voted against Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats reckless spending bill that would cost an estimated $4 Trillion and fuel inflation.

“Of course, I voted no. How could any responsible conservative vote for such an outrageously expensive bill that fundamentally transforms our entire economy?” said McKinley. “The CBO says this bill costs $1.7 Trillion, but outside economists project the price tag will be more than $4 Trillion. Who is right?”

“This bill is incredibly divisive, at a time when Americans want us to be working together. Why should Congress vote to allow taxpayer abortions? Why should Congress grant amnesty and benefits for illegal immigrants? Why should Congress give tax breaks to millionaires? Why is Congress funding 87,000 new IRS agents to spy on citizens’ private bank accounts? Why are we adding to the deficit when American consumers are spending less due to concerning runaway inflation? Why are we raising energy prices on families?” said McKinley.

“This 2100-page bill was written behind closed doors, rushed through the House by Speaker Pelosi with no input from Republicans, no hearings and no amendments,” said McKinley. “Consequently, no responsible conservative would vote for this legislation. This is not acceptable This is not the way Congress should operate…the American public deserves better.”
