On Friday night, President Donald Trump signed a bill that will protect the pensions of 120,000 retired miners.

For the last 7 years, Congressman David McKinley has fought to protect retired miner's pensions. And he knows how impactful the passage of this bill is.

“I think anything we say would be an understatement. But it's not just West Virginia, it's wherever. We mine coal in 26 states all across the country,” McKinley said.

For years, the miners’ pension fund has come from different mining companies paying into one fund. But as companies began to go bankrupt, future benefits became a concern.
