McKinley Nominates 14 West Virginia Students to Military Academies

Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va.) has nominated 14 West Virginia students to United States service academies. Nomination by a Member of Congress is the first step in the process toward appointment to a military academy.

“One of my greatest privileges as Representative of the First District is nominating deserving young people for the opportunity of a lifetime,” McKinley said. “West Virginians have always answered the call to defend our nation, and I am confident that each and every one of these students would represent West Virginia well at the service academies”

“These young men and women will be West Virginia’s next generation of leaders,” said McKinley. “They have earned their nomination through hard work, achievement and good character. I wish them the best of luck as they pursue their dreams.”

The following students were nominated by Rep. McKinley based on their academic performance, extracurricular activity, service to their communities, and personal recommendations. The nominated students are in alphabetical order by last name.

Isabella Christine DiSaia – (Triadelphia) attends Wheeling Park High School where she is a member of National Honor Society. She is a three-year member of the track and cross-country team where she won the Ohio Valley Conference Award. Nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Naval Academy.

Colton Ky Dudley–  (Wood County) attends The American School in England. He is a ten-year competitive gymnast and was the English U16 Floor Champion, 2x British Team Silver Medalist, 2x London Open Silver Medalist, and 6x London Regional Champion. Nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy.

Olivia Rose Esposito – (Fairmont) attends Fairmont Senior High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. Olivia is on the lacrosse team, and captains the cheerleading squad. She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta— a mathematics honor society for high school students, received the Kiwanis Youth Leader Award and was Homecoming Queen. Nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy

Nathan Patrick Goldcamp –  (Morgantown) attends Morgantown High School, where he ranks in the top 3% of his class and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is a member of the varsity lacrosse, hockey, and cross country teams. Nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy.

Thomas Richard Minor –(Wheeling) attends Central Catholic High School in Wheeling, where he is a student body officer. Thomas is a member of the National Honor Society, Alpha Theta Society and the Rho Kappa Honor Society. He is also on the varsity track and soccer teams. Nominated to U.S. Naval Academy.

Daisy Elizabeth Reasbeck– (Wheeling) attends Wheeling Park High School and is ranked in the top 1% of her class. She is a 4-year varsity member of the soccer team, also plays basketball, and served as Division Leader of the Debate Club. Nominated to U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Jacob Jeffrey Rine –(Wheeling) attends Central Catholic High School where he is student body president. Jacob is a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the varsity football team, and a member of the varsity baseball team. He is also a member of the Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor, and a member of the French National Honor Society. Nominated to U.S. Naval Academy.

Brent Donald Robinson–  (Morgantown) attends Notre Dame High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, School Club Officer, and the co-founder of the Investment Club. He also is a member of the football, wrestling, and baseball teams. Nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy.

John Robert Rush III – (Bridgeport) attends Notre Dame High School.  He is a member of the varsity football, wrestling, and lacrosse teams. Nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Jarrett Chase Schleicher – (Fairmont) attends Fairmont State University as a chemistry major. He attended Fairmont Senior High School where he graduated with honors and was a member of the 2018-2019 Lacrosse State Champion Team. Nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy.

Jacob Cosner Staud -(Morgantown) attends University High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society. Jacob is a member of the wrestling team where he is a three-time Regional Champion, a State Champion, and a Journeyman All-American. Nominated to U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Sophie Grace Talkington – (Bridgeport) attends Notre Dame High School where she is President of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Senior Class President. She is a three-year member of track and field and is a six-year competitive gymnast. Nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Military Academy at West Point.  

Carson Joseph Winkie – (Bridgeport) attends Bridgeport High School where he is number one in his class and was elected student body president. He is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the varsity football and track teams. Carson was the recipient of the Volunteer Rotary Youth Leadership Award. Nominated to U.S. Naval Academy.

Dillon Joseph Ziolkowski – (Wheeling) attends Gunnery High School in Connecticut, where he is a member of the National Honor Society. Dillon is on the varsity lacrosse, hockey, and soccer teams. He has served as Head Resident Assistant for Boys Sophomore Dorm, Head Resident Assistant for Senior Boys Dorm and completed a 30 Hours Senior Service Project with the American Legion. Nominated to U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
