Wheeling Awaiting Decision on $15.3M Grant to Fund Streetscaping Project-

City officials are waiting on a decision from the federal government regarding approval of a $15.3 million grant that would allow Wheeling to move forward with its streetscaping project.

Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott and City Manager Robert Herron met with state and federal leaders in Washington, D.C. last week to gain support for a U.S. Department of Transportation BUILD grant to fund the project, dubbed Wheeling RENEWAL.

Rep. David McKinley, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, Sen. Joe Manchin, Gov. Jim Justice and West Virginia Secretary of Transportation Byrd White all conveyed strong support for the street improvement project, Herron said. The project was also well-received in meetings with senior White House and federal transportation officials, he said.
