McKinley hopes WVU Medicine can preserve OVMC jobs, operations- WV news

The future of the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling is still uncertain, but Rep. David McKinley, R-W.Va., expressed hope that WVU Medicine’s presence in the area could be extended and possibly save the hospital or at least help with retaining the affected health-care jobs.

On Aug. 8, hospital operator Alecto Healthcare Services, LLC, announced via a press release that the closure process had begun for both OVMC and East Ohio Regional Hospital in nearby Martins Ferry, Ohio, after an unsuccessful search for buyers or strategic partners. The company stated such processes take about 60-90 days, with an anticipated shutdown day in October.
