McKinley Commends President Trump’s Executive Action on Job-Killing Regulations

Chairman of the Congressional Coal Caucus, David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) released the following statement after President Trump signed an executive order to roll back job-killing regulations on the coal industry.

“These painful regulations were nothing but dangerous examples of executive overreach and a set of calculated attacks on the coal industry by the Obama administration. President Trump made a promise to put coal miners back to work and he is making good on that promise. If left in place, these regulations would have little positive impact on our climate while continuing to decimate West Virginia’s economy,” said McKinley.

“The President’s action will provide relief to coal communities that have been under a bureaucratic assault from Washington over the last eight years. The nightmare of the War on Coal is now officially over,” McKinley said.

“As Chairman of the Coal Caucus, I will continue to work with this Administration to promote a national energy plan that prioritizes research and efficiency to create new jobs, and uses all of our energy resources in a clean and reliable fashion,” McKinley said.

Background

As Chairman of the Congressional Coal Caucus, working with the Trump administration to roll back painful regulations is one of Congressman McKinley’s top priorities. Recently, President Trump signed legislation co-sponsored by Congressman McKinley to stop the SPR, the Obama administration’s parting shot in its War on Coal.
