McKinley Applauds Decision to Roll Back Obama Power Plant Regulations

Chairman of the Congressional Coal Caucus, Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) released the following statement applauding EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt's decision to withdraw the Obama Administration's power plant regulations. The rule withdrawing the regulations will be signed later today. "According to the DOE, 320 coal-fired power plants have shut down since 2012, 18 of which were in West Virginia. This presents a dangerous threat to the reliability and resiliency of America's electrical grid. Last week the DOE took steps to address these issues with the grid, and today's action is a major boost to those efforts," said McKinley

Chairman of the Congressional Coal Caucus, Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) released the following statement applauding EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s decision to withdraw the Obama Administration’s power plant regulations. The rule withdrawing the regulations will be signed later today.

“According to the DOE, 320 coal-fired power plants have shut down since 2012, 18 of which were in West Virginia. Last week the DOE took steps to address these issues with the grid, and today’s action is a major boost to those efforts,” said McKinley.

“This Administration is keeping their promise to get rid of this key plank in Obama’s war on coal. I expect the Trump Administration to follow this repeal with a bipartisan plan that, coupled with research, will allow us to utilize coal cleanly and more efficiently than ever before,” McKinley said.
