McKinley Bill To Lower Prescription Drug Prices Bill Advances
Energy & Commerce Committee approves bipartisan CREATES Act
Legislation sponsored by Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (R-W.Va.) to increase access to generic drugs, boost market competition, and lower drug prices for Americans was approved by the House Energy & Commerce Committee late Wednesday.
The Creating and Restoring Equal Access to Equivalent Samples (CREATES) Act (H.R. 965) would prevent drug makers from hindering generic competitors from entering the market and driving down prices.
“Our constituents have been demanding we act to lower to cost of prescription drugs. So, it is a good thing that we can finally move forward in a bipartisan manner and get this over the finish line,” said McKinley. “Our office has been working on this issue for over four years. Being persistent on this has finally paid off.”
McKinley also recently sponsored H.R. 985, the Fair Access for Safe and Timely (FAST) Generics Act which also aims to address this same issue.
