U.S. Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E., R-W.Va., hosted an opioid grant workshop in Morgantown with representatives from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration.

The grant workshop, which was attended by over 120 representatives from all 20 counties in the 1st District, the Governor’s Office and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services, provided information on how to access federal grants to help combat the opioid crisis.

The administration usually gives its grant workshops via online presentations, but McKinley arranged for representatives to come to Morgantown and give it in person.

“Our office has participated in over 50 round-table discussions on opioids, and the number one concern we heard was that small localities lack the resources to apply for, and obtain, the federal grants that are available. We heard these concerns and arranged to have representatives from the federal government come to West Virginia and provide resources,” McKinley said.
