McKinley Announces Funding for Local Police Departments

Washington, D.C. – Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) announced that the City of Cameron and the Parkersburg Police Department have been awarded grants from the Department of Justice to help strengthen crime prevention efforts. The City of Cameron will receive $123,263 and the Parkersburg Police Department will receive $250,000. These funds will be used to hire new law enforcement officers to increase each department's policing capacity.

McKinley: We Must Strengthen Transparency in Regulations

Washington, D.C. – The House passed the Regulatory Integrity Act, legislation that brings more transparency to federal rule-making. An amendment to the bill sponsored by Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E. (WV-1) would restrict regulators from using their private e-mails to work in the shadows with these groups during a public comment period. In recent years, federal bureaucrats have used their private e-mail accounts with outside groups to influence regulations that include the Clean Power Plan, the Cross State Air Pollution Rule, and Pebble Mine, among others.

Congressman McKinley and Senator Capito to Co-Host "Academy Day" in Morgantown

Washington, D.C. – Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., WV-1 will co-host an "Academy Day" with Senator Shelley Moore Capito in Morgantown for students who would like to learn more about attending one of United States Service Academies. Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Military Academy will be on hand to answer questions from interested students.

McKinley Announces Funding for Drug Prevention Programs

McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) announced that two local groups; the Ohio County Substance Abuse Prevention and Advocates for Substance Abuse Prevention will each receive a $125,000 grant from the Drug Free Community Support Program to help fight drug abuse. This announcement was welcomed by several local officials.

WHEELING – The University of Pittsburgh is beating West Virginia University in scoring federal research dollars, and as a whole the Mountain State's colleges and universities aren't getting their share of federal grants for research projects, according to Rep. David McKinley.
