The Veterans History Project was created in 2000 as a part of the American Folk Life Center at the Library of Congress to preserve the personal accounts of veterans. Here is how it works: Once a veteran applies to be a part of the project, some veteran will be contacted by our staff to arrange an interview at a mutually convenient time. The recorded interview is then sent to the Library of Congress to be part of the collection of veterans’ stories, so future generations can go back to see and hear the stories of those who served our nation.

Some of the veterans who share their stories may be selected for a longer more in-depth interview on camera.
