Rep. McKinley Votes to Prevent Government Shutdown

Washington, D.C.—Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va.) joined his House colleagues on Wednesday in passing a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government through September 30th.

“The House was responsible and took action to avoid a government shutdown at the end of the month,” said Rep. McKinley. “The legislation is another step to getting Washington back on a path to a balanced budget. It protects our national defense by allowing flexibility for our military to adopt spending cuts. While this is not the perfect solution, it will allow Congress to concentrate on working to cut the deficit and get rid of waste and duplication in government spending. The ball is now in the hands of the Senate and President Obama.”
